Yes.Β  Expenses paid to chiropractors for medical care are eligible for tax free reimbursement from your HSA.

However, the following amounts may not qualify:

  • Massage, relaxation therapy, or β€œwellness” treatments performed primarily for general well-being rather than treating or preventing a medical condition.
  • Nutritional counseling unrelated to a physician-diagnosed condition.
  • Vitamins, herbal products, and nutritional supplements unless recommended by a medical practitioner to treat a specific condition diagnosed by a physician.
  • Exercise programs, fitness classes, or health-club memberships intended merely to improve general health.
  • Ordinary food, drinks, toiletries, pillows, mattresses, or other personal-use products, unless special medical-expense requirements are satisfied.
  • Cosmetic or appearance-oriented services that don’t meaningfully promote bodily function or treat illness.
  • Cancellation, missed-appointment, financing, or administrative fees that aren’t payments for medical care.
  • Amounts prepaid for chiropractic services to be received substantially in a future year, subject to limited exceptions.
